Together with the violinist Önder Baloglu and his NRW ensemble “Les essences”, he (Fazil Say) ensured an extremely exciting evening. A wonderful chamber orchestra that we will be hearing a lot about,” said the piano star, awarding the knighthood to the 18 top musicians from 15 nations. In fact, the standing group knows how to captivate people with their extremely delicate playing and almost wild joy in making music.”

Klaus Albrecht, Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung

I am completely thrilled by the incredible quality and joy of Les essences‘ playing. I find this way of making music to be forward-looking and convincingly authentic. For me, Les essences represents a new level among the innovative chamber orchestras of our time.”

The young string orchestra played intoxicatingly and with great attention to detail in the chamber concert.

Ingo Hoddick, Rheinische Post

Founded and directed by Önder Baloglu, the concertmaster of the Duisburg Philharmonic, the ensemble has now received three years of financial support from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and is already raising great artistic hopes. Chorwerk Ruhr thus has an equal, ideally suited instrumental partner at its side.

Klaus Albrecht, Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung

Musicians are literally looking for the essence of every note, agreeing on lovingly illuminated subtleties. … It hovered between cool clarity and gentle sensuality, perfectly hitting the specific serenade tone, which is less than a demanding symphony, but still much more than simple entertainment.

Ingo Hoddick, Rheinische Post

My thanks to the whole ensemble for the great chamber concert in the Mercator Hall. A wonderful and exciting selection of pieces, also or perhaps because of the fact that most of the composers were unknown to me. There you can see again what hidden pearls there are.The ensemble played these pieces beautifully. One of the most beautiful chamber concerts that I have heard so far

A collective where the music is led by musicians!

Deniz Yurdakul, Double Bass

A place of pure music, where the musicians listen so well and so concentrated that they play almost instinctively, with all their senses awake.

Ghislain Portier, Cello

An absolute existence. Playing with Les essences is a glimpse into the future of music.

Diego Hernandez, Violoncello

Making music together in a new dimension

Iannis Petrakis, Violin

...again, many thanks to you and the other musicians for the great performance yesterday at the Konzerthaus Dortmund. It was a great concert experience!

Karen Ann Bode, Mozart-Gesellschaft-Dortmund

They could all have been acting like soloists. Everyone gave up on that. Gave up from shining as an individual. For a common cause. Nevertheless, everyone gave their all. Very different, very individual people from different parts of the world. Then I suddenly thought, this is how peace works.

Eva Herweg, concert listener

Thanks from the audience for taking part in the concert yesterday in Moers! The music touched me a lot, agitated and comforted me, also because I had just visited a friend who is very ill, who probably doesn't have long to live and whom I hardly recognized. Life, death, joy, sorrow, letting go, acceptance, security, all of these themes were very present for me. Many thanks to all contributors.
